Mx. Esther Margaret is a freelance artist, teacher, and collaborator based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She currently works full time as the Costume Shop Supervisor for the University of Southern Mississippi.

Their most recent costume design credits are for Steel Magnolias and Curious George and the Golden Meatball at USM’s Southern Arena Theatre. In 2025, Esther costume designed New Stage Theatre’s First Stages Camp production of Disney’s Lion King Kids and Broadway Junior production of Disney’s Lion King Jr. She also worked with St. Andrew’s Episcopal School on their production of Disney’s Little Mermaid to build Ursula’s costumes.

As a theatre educator in Mississippi public schools for ten years, Esther taught and directed hundreds of students at Wells APAC Theatre and at Northwest Rankin High School. Their leadership was integral to the success of Thespian Troupe 4909, 88317, and 5727, helping them reach international recognition multiple times. She served as a leader in her field as various committee chairs and board members for Mississippi Thespians and Mississippi Theatre Association, improving the organization and integrity of both groups.

Esther earned a BFA in Theatrical Design and Technology with a specialization in Costume Design and Construction from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2011. She has worked freelance as a costume designer and stitcher at various professional theatres including the Tony Award-Winning Alley Theatre, the Nashville Repertory Theatre, and Mississippi's own New Stage Theatre.
